http://www.evike.com/product_info.php?products_id=31514 the green gas cans you specifically buy for airsoft have a silicon base in them to lube your gun everytime you shoot. if you use propane yes you defenitely have to lube up. dont go an entire day on propane either periodicaly spray a silicon lube inside your gas chamber in between games and you should be fine. EDIT these yes do have silicon ports but its not enough you can use it but be safe and just get a standard non oiled can of spray silicon and youll be set.

go to a hardware store and ask for a non oiled silicon spray. it should come with a straw. stick the straw down your magwell and just little blips of spray (2-3) also spray into your mag (make sure your valve is open) otherwise just get green gas its much easier lol

propane is cheaper but it will dry up your o rings and can seriously mess up your stuff. i would only use propane if i had no other choice

| depending how much you use the gun (like how many mags per game, or w/e) with the kwa m9 ptp i had, either every 20 mags or so i would take the gun apart and put silicon oil (rc shock oil from the hobby shop, real cheap for alot but it doesn't spray) on the seals in the gun, including to moisturize the hop-up rubber, i would open the bottom of the mag (i did on the hi-capas) and lube the mag seal (also a good time to fix leaks) i would lube the mag to cylinder seal, the fill valve seal, and the seal around the fill valve (unscrew it) otherwise i would fill the silicon port 3-6 times into one mag every 3-6 mags if time allowed. my friend only every few games hydrates the seals in his mac 11 only every few games, and once in awhile dumps oil into the mag. he has sent 1k's of rounds through it on strickly propane and never has had a problem. as long as you keep the rubber from drying out you will not have any problems on propane (as long as your gun can handle green gas/propane). and make sure to keep all the moving parts (esp the metal to metal contact) lubed up like the slide rails, like every game or two if you want to be on the safe side (that mac11 rarely sees maintainace and they are supposed to be finicky yet it doesn't have a crazy amount of wear even thought it is short stroked for a higher rate of fire) | |

I AM THE LAZIEST MAN! Use the green gas first and the next 2 or 3 times, use propane. Your gun will stay lubed up. Just keep repeating the cycle and you will save tons of money. I have lots of propane for $2.00 per can.
By the way, the thumb cap/screw on the side of the propane adaptor is so you can fill it up with oil, so it is just like green gas.
BOOM! there you go. | |

| i agree with the above for laziness (its just that is a good way to check the wear on my guns and clean them) you could always just unscrew the fill valve, pour a good bit of silicon oil in, gas the mag up and shoot (alot cheaper than a can of green gas, 2oz of silicon oil ~ $4 at the store, i've barely i just got throught that bottle after putting copious amounts on all of my guns i have and had) | |
