| The Marine Corps is an invasion force, the army, an occupation force. Once we do the invasion we hand things over to the Army. Well the invasion of Afghanistan was in 01 and iraq in 03 yet we still have Marines deploying to both (not so much iraq anymore). | |

It is easy to understand. Every night when we go to sleep, somewhere overseas is hundreds of Marines and Army Soldiers watching over our sweet dreams. so that way we can open our eyes in peace next morning !
By the way, they don't hate each others !

WRONG! The USMC is just CORP, which means, less personnel and less units (hence, The few the proud). The Army is composed of many Corps with many units at divisonary level. However, nowadays it doesnt matter whether you belong the the USMC or the Army, these forces dont have operational control over units deploying to geographical areas. For example, the 82nd Airborne may belong to the Army, but once it is deployed to Iraq, the operational control of this unit belongs to CENTCOM (Central Command). Likewise, if a USMC MEU deploys to Afghanistan, then its operational command is CETCOM. Trash talking will always exist, but that is because the USMC knows that they will never be as good as the Army. | |
