Possible airsoft Field... WAKE ISLAND... COCONUT GROVE!

this is an Island off Coconut Grove - Me and "NOBODY" call WAKE ISLAND.

It may be possible to gain access to this location for an airsoft game if we can get permission from City hall which is nearby...Acess to the Island will be done by water taxi....

We will Explore possible arrangements to see if airsoft can be brought deep into the City!

That island is West Islands Park. A Florida State Park. You would need permission from the State not the city. Going straight to City Hall will just give you a run around and a headache.

Try contacting the Miami Dade Parks Director. You would have a better chance with that.

We will start finding out very soon and hopefully be allowed to play their once a month. This would be an awesome place to play, Bring your BBQ grills and lots of drinks. Bio degradable BB's will most likely be used on the Island.

Scenarios and amazing pictures can be done on this land. uniforms will most likely will pertain to that era in time to simulate the battle between the US forces and Japan.

Lets see and hope we will be allowed What do you all think?

I am in the Biscayne Sailing Club and I know the Captain personally...

He actually lives on his huge charter boat in the Marina nearby and he has a fast tender skiff that could be used for taxi service between the parking lot and that Island...

I am sure he would agree to it as long as he is making some extra money.

The Motor skiff can hold 5 people at a time and the trip across the water is not long at all!

I got water taxi covered!

I will see if I can get a hold of some friends about park access issues.

I can give the Coast guard office a heads up as well because the office is very close by!

All land activitie must take place on land...The Coast Guard will imediatelly shut us down for playing airsoft using a boat in the marina channel!

those actions must be done on another location due to shipping regulations....maybe a private property that has a lake.

Cool idea but sounds like a bad idea. Like people that go there have a BBQ and see us running around with guns, they get scared call the coast guard or shoot at us for fear of there lives . Just my 2 cents.

it is doable but with restrictions. the island would need to become a limited access area that day and have sinage around. as far as using actual vessles in that area it is a major no go. DHS would have a shit fit and launch teams due to it being so close to the port. im actually trying to find somewhere that we could do something like tahat but it is hard.

Its going to cost you (SFAR) a few dollars to get the permits to do something like that. And by a few I mean a lot. Then you have to considering whether or not everyone wants to pay to take a boat to an island to play. So you will have to pay the Captain of the ship and you will have to pay the city for the permits. Already you have lost money. Lots and lots of money.

What happens in the event of an emergency? Who will be in charge of something of that nature? The city is going to want to see insurance so they do not get sued if something happens on the way to the island and if something happens on the island. There is that liability word again.

The idea is good and your intentions are good, but you guys have to look at this from a city point of view. Whats in it for them? A place to let you guys play and litter? How can you be so sure that every single of the SFAR players are going to buy bio BBs?

Oh Im not trying to "own" them as many people say these days. I am merely trying to inform you what it takes to do something within a city or a park.

You have some points but this is just an Idea that is possiblly doable event that will take place once in a while... It will be an expensive airsoft party!

The captain will be charging something around 20 bucks and you will be required to sign a waver before you will get his services...he will also remain with us until it is time to leave so It is a special boat charter.

"NOBODY" is standing in a pose reminisant to a "CAPTURED FLAG" an old tradition that was exercised in WW2... many GIs and Marines brought home captured flags and were filmed in photo documentry holding them!

This is South Florida waters your dealing with. Just a couple of the agencies you'll have to deal with:

1. FWC - they're not to keen about airsofters.
2. NPS - park rangers. That island resides in biscayne national park
3. DHS - self explanatory
4. City of Miami and possibly Miami dade county.

But if it does somehow happen, for 20 a pop I will provide round trip for a few.....

Now I know this is not some average hunting trip to the woods.

It is at a high profile location and It is actually a mission impossible but I wanted to get people thinking!

It is highly possible considering my boat club connections to actally get there.but the reality fact is that the airsoft game will be seen as a publicity stunt and promotion...Just want to show us all off!

Major strings must be pulled and I cannot do all of it by myself.
