| Subject: V2 gearbox locking up  Tue Jul 31, 2012 7:28 pm | |
| hey guys got a V2 gearbox (mp5) here that keeps locking up. it's got a large type battery connector, but an 8.4 large won't free it up.
my two guesses at the problem are:
a) battery is not strong enough
b) motor doesn't have enough torque
anything else?
the mp5 is g&g, shouldn't really have a strong spring. | |

| i should note that i locked the gearbox up using a cheesy chinese SMALL battery. (large to small adapter.
thats why the gearbox locked up most likely. | |

| i had said if you get a batter with 1600 mah or more your gun wont lock up | |

| yea but the mp5 he has is a blowback and it drains the power on the battery if you have anything lower that a 1600mah it drains it and locks up the gearbox | |

dude G&G makes some good polymer haha.
i know they do remember i own one? im saying that grease may have hardened in the gearbox and may lock it up it happened to me | |

that actually isnt true. my GR16 is ebb and i ran an 8.4 NiMH for a long time before i went lipo... it never locked up the gearbox. all the ebb does is drain a little bit of pressure for the actual movement of the bolt, i doesnt use battery power. | |

i know but having the g&g blowback doesnt mean it takes more battery power, because its pneumatic, its not like the tokyo marui recoil shocks. my 8.4 was a 1600 and yes it died after a while but it wasnt cause of my blowback.. | |

| well i dissasembled the gun (very easy btw, kudos G&G) and looked at the gearbox. its a standard v2 minus the screws at the top, uses the bar like a V3 would have.
anyway, the blowback doesnt really drain battery power. theres a hole in the cylinder, when the piston slams forward to propel the BB, some air is diverted in to the hole which cause the bolt to move back.
if anything, it might lower your fps slightly. | |

| i havent had any luck yet. to further disassemble it i will need some REALLY tiny allen keys.
i grabbed my old JG blue motor which has ALOT more torque, that should be strong enough for the gun. | |

| the motor that comes with the g&g is sooooooooooo weak. i put it in my friends m4, pulling an m110 it's struggling.. | |
